Magus Lord has released its full-length album, In the Company of Champions. M's new project adds another dimension of sounds to the subterranean, earthly and ethereal rawness conjured by his Lamp of Murmuur, Silent Thunder and Fuinäehot incarnations. It opens with the immense symphonic epic ‘One Path to Carn Dûm’ that previewed the album in March, then journeys through a labyrinth of murky ritualistic atmosphere and stadium sized riffing, with four tracks of mystic old school heavy metal that climax with a cover of Belarusian pagan metal band God’s Tower track, Seven Rains of Fire.
